The "internet" doesn't exist

I think the word "internet" has lost it's meaning very much.
Nowadays, people use the word "internet" to refer to proprietary services.

This is obvious.
Most proprietary software users think that proprietary services are the whole "internet".
I am not a proprietary service so this is obviously wrong.

How I would describe the word "internet", would be accurate.
"An inter-connected network of computers that share data".

That definition is really what IP is anyway, which is the true "Internet" Protocol.
