We don't need SuperTuxKart 2.0, we need a rewrite.

SuperTuxKart is one of the best free software games.
Though the standards of a good free software game is low.
The latest release of SuperTuxKart, 1.x is great but lacks a lot of features.

The developement of 2.x is confusing.
It isn't available upstream and seems more of a "fork" then an "update".
There was an April Fools (i think, because it was shortly deleted) announcement to rewrite SuperTuxKart in Godot Engine.

If there was a rewrite, it would be great because the current Antartica/Irrlicht engine is not that practical.
The old TuxKart used plib, but now it is obsolete.

I think a ground up rewrite of SuperTuxKart (in Godot, Irrlicht, or something else) would be great.
Hopefully SuperTuxKart will reach the quality of SuperTux.
