Virtual Newsletter about Software Freedom January 28, 2026 So, how's Hurd x86_64 now? -------------------------- Hurd support for x86_64 is really good. Now that rumpnet is stable, practically everything that is on i686 Hurd works on x86_64 Hurd. Also, there's a pull request at Mesa to add Hurd support.[1] Soon I will be able to play Frozen-Bubble on Hurd! Mesa support will be huge for Hurd, as majority of GUI packages that don't work on Hurd is because of Mesa. Most libraries and other programs that don't rely on Mesa is probably due to PATH_MAX, or something else. Slowly, Hurd will get more support for things. Maybe then, we can kill Linux. ;) - NexusSfan [1] https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/merge_requests/39277 --- Copyright (c) 2026 NexusSfan Except where otherwise noted, this work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License A copy of the license is included at https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nd/4.0 ---
