Virtual Newsletter about Software Freedom March 20, 2025 SMTPv6 ------ Like all other extensions of the Internet Protocol, SMTP is probably the most used app protocol. Simple Mail Transport Protocol, is a failed attempt to make digital mail. It has become so centralized that you need at least 5 extra things to even GET STARTED on SMTP. I run a website using HostBrr, a pretty good VPS provider. There is a $1.50/month plan that uses IPv6. Pretty good for me. The server has no IPv4. Later I tried setting up Postfix and Dovecot, it works well. Except the fact that no SMTP servers support IPv6. Until this happens IPv6 will never be the future. Why are we doing this? Because of spam most likely. I suggest a new protocol, and this is what GNUnet is doing. A new SMTP, a better SMTP. One that works with the future of the internet. - NexusSfan --- Copyright (c) 2025 NexusSfan Except where otherwise noted, this work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License A copy of the license is included at https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nd/4.0 ---
